"God talks to people in their own language. We are for our Native Faith but not against other beliefs. No nationality or religion is worse or better than others. The following compilation of articles, focusing on Folkish Odinism as opposed to Universalist Odinism, has come about after witnessing a number of non-Whites wearing Thor's Hammers (Mjollnir) at the 2011 Bloodstock Festival and the London leg of the 2011 Heidenfest and a black actor being cast as a Norse God in the 2011 Hollywood movie, Thor.

Odinism is a folkish religion that springs directly from the folk soul of the European peoples.

Amerindians often get distressed at White people using their religion and an Amerindian view on this can be read in the 'Native' American section of this page, below.

These white Europeans following the Amerindian nature based spirituality should read So you're a European-American who's attracted to Native American spirituality...

Anyway, I find this an interesting topic - non-whites that follow Odinism and wear the Thor's Hammer. I post the images below at request and to gain different opinions on the topic. Please see comments right at the bottom of this page.

I found the article "What It Means To Be Folkish", written by Asbrandir to be very interesting. But what of mixed race, say, White and Black - this is the point the one mixed race guy is making. This was the only issue I felt was mised from the excellent article. Not that I have a problem personally with it, it doesn't effect me but I do find the discussion interesting, and wondered about others opinions on the subject.

Before commenting, I highly recommend you read all of the articles below, especially the ones in bold, but I do sincerely hope you read them all. After doing so, I HIGHLY recommend you read 'The Nature of Asatru (Odinism) by Mark Puryear, Ásatrú (Odinism) - The Hidden Fortress by Edred Wodanson (E. Max Hyatt), and Odinism: Present, Past and Future by Osred Jameson as these 3 magnificient books deal with this topic perfectly.

FROM THE GROUP 'I WEAR THOR'S HAMMER AROUND MY NECK'

When asked about his views on non-Whites wearing Thor's Hammer:

"Because some of us, non pure whites, worship the Gods of our white ancestors, and feel connected to them.... Remember, sometimes the Gods may call upon them, even if they are not purebreed nordic or germanic, as it might be my case.." (source)

Graeme A. Barber

When asked about his views on non-Whites wearing Thor's Hammer:

"There's a few reasons. One is that there is a fair sized and developing south american Asatru/Heathen movement. Another is that there are a small number of mixed race individuals (such as myself) in north america and europe who identify with their northern european heritage instead of their "other" heritage, and who pursue heathenry as an ancestral religion. Others would be converts, which is inevitable given the access the internet gives people to information." "I always find it fascinating that only being 50% european is sufficient in the eyes of some to deny me access to the ancestors and civilization I connect with culturally and spiritually. I also find the carefully crafted reinterpretations of history, using the lenses of late 19th/early 20th century eugenics and social sciences combined with pseudoscientific concepts very interesting. The intentional creation of an "us vs them" isolationist mentality is quite telling as well." "As I understand it, family is a central pillar in folkish Asatru (and all heathenry); and family is not chosen, they are people tied to you by blood and by culture. Bi/multiracial people only have torn loyalties or confusion when they are told they have them by society at large, when they are told they must associate themselves with the culture of their non-european roots even as they are culturally indoctrinated in a european culture. By denying these people the access to their ancestry because of one parent or grandparent (or what have you), you further their isolation from the culture they love and crave, and deny them their family. Simultaneously, the argument runs that they will be happier with their "real" culture, no matter how alien and how unconnected they are, so the people who abandon them have their consciences assuaged." Volkerfist Hlidskjalf - Non-whites wearing Thor's Hammer, and practicing "Odinism" is wrong because the revival of "Odinism" goes hand in hand with the revival of European culture and the revival of Europeans in general. You can believe in the noble virtues, take the wisdom from the Havamal, etc., but please do not bastardize our holy symbols. It looks silly when I see non-whites wearing Mjollnir.

Jason Born - A peoples unique beauty, culture, ect. is greater than one individuals happiness, cravings, ect. Anyone who wants or is willing to let our beautiful folk be destroyed for the sake of becoming one mixed cultureless slave race, for whatever lie, is an enemy.

Roderich - Non-Whites wearing Thor's Hammer looks ridiculous. They have no pride. They have no roots in their own culture. They are just wannabes. It is as if a white dress like an American Indian or a black, etc. There are people in this world who are not satisfied with the race or culture in which they were born. Those people seeks desdesperadamente to copycat other cultures. Sad.
